I think losing a child is more devastating than, say, losing a husband to another woman. My cousin's son, Owen, passed away early this morning. He suffered from severe jaundice. At least he's not suffering anymore.
Jeremy and I have met him only a few times. Our first encounter was when Jeremy was about 3 or 4 months old. We went to my cousin's house for a family gathering. While I was changing Jeremy's soiled diaper, Owen came over. When he saw the BM, he said 'eee outong'. Outong is in our native language which means smelly. I thought he was so cute and clever. He was such an active and healthy child.
The last several times we met, he has significantly change. He had yellow tint to his skin and wasn't as active anymore. But then maybe he became a little shy as he got older.
I pray that God and the Holy Spirit will be with his parents during the difficult times.
